From draft supplementary regulations:
The Big White Winter Rally is a reconnaissance performance rally consisting of special stages, transits and a rallyX style super special. The total length of the event will be approximately 220 km, with approximately 130 km of special stages (overall percentages: 58% stage, 42% transit). Stage road surfaces will be ice and snow covered gravel. Studded tires are permitted; however, they must be street legal and no ice racing tires are allowed.
The stage routebook will be very elementary; therefore, recconaissance is very strongly encouraged. The Big White Rally is a reconaissance WINTER EVENT. This is not a rally that can be driven blind, and no detailed stage notes are provided. Teams must be prepared for exposure to cold and snow. Warm clothing and other basic winter amenities should be stored in the rally cars, so that drivers and codrivers can keep warm if they are stuck on stage. Service crews need to be adequately prepared for outdoor service as well.
There is no fuel available at the resort, and teams must leave Grand Forks or Kelowna with all the fuel, including for recce and service crew, that the team will need for the weekend.
Early entry closes November 21st at midnight. Full supplementary regulations to follow.

Thanks to the Course Closing Crew for coming to drive in the snow. We didn’t end up needing the extraction skills very often, but it’s essential to have it just in case.

The stage roads were plowed on Thursday. Bullet Stage is an ice rink with snow cover. All the stages are slippery. The snowbanks are SOFT and should not be relied upon to redirect momentum. There is brush extending onto the stage road on the Gem Lake Stage, which will be evident on recce but should be cleared by rally day.
The stage rally start order has been posted:

Rocket Rally Studless is Faster Award
The stages are being plowed today, and the debate about the best tire choice is gearing up. Studded or studless? Snow or ice? Last year, the rally was won by a team who ran studless tires, and Rocket Rally is bringing back the ‘Studless is Faster’ Award to show that specialized snow tires such as Yokohama A034s are as good as studs for snowy roads.
For rally teams who complete the entire rally with studless tires on all driven wheels, Rocket Rally will award:
4 YOKOHAMA A034s for a first place overall finish
2 YOKOHAMA A034s for the first place 2WD finish
(if a 2wd car wins, it will be eligible for only one prize and will receive 4 A034s)
SnowX Studless Fastest Time of the Day
Rocket Rally is also providing 1hr of dyno time for the fastest time of the day at the
Valley Mitsubishi SnowX on Saturday. Cars must run the entire snowX on non-studded tires.
The Big White Winter Rally Spectator Guide is available in today’s edition of the Daily Courier. It lists directions and scheduling information for spectating the rally weekend. Link to online spectator guide HERE.
The call for rally volunteers is now CLOSED. We’ve got all the help we need for the weekend, and with so many volunteers it should be a great afterparty! Anyone interested in the event is welcome to attend as a spectator, and there are a few spots still open in the Valley Mitsubishi SnowX Competition.
The countdown is on to the third annual Big White Rally Weekend! Reports from the recent prerun cruise are all about the winter conditions – even the lowest elevation Ridge Rocket stage is snow covered. Ridge Rocket is the only stage that won’t be plowed leading up to the event; all the others will be plowed on Thursday.
STAGE RALLY COMPETITORS should review the bulletin below, and all volunteers, competitors and spectators should check the website frequently for up to date information leading up to the event.
